InnoTrans 2024 showcased a wide range of innovative solutions in the railway industry, highlighting several key trends:
- Energy Efficiency and Automation. Many companies presented new and upgraded locomotives and railcars equipped with hybrid and hydrogen power systems. Significant attention was also given to smart axle condition monitoring systems and improvements in manufacturing technologies.
- Sustainability. Exhibitors emphasized eco-friendly technologies aimed at reducing the carbon footprint in the production and operation of railway transport.
- Material Innovations. There was a strong interest in new materials for axle production, such as carbon fibers and alloys, which offer improved technical characteristics and reduce product weight.
During the exhibition, the European Rail Industry Association (UNIFE) presented a report showing the market's recovery after the COVID-19 pandemic and projected growth of 3% annually by 2027-2029. However, experts noted a decline in the share of European suppliers due to trade barriers and the support of local manufacturers.
